About

Mission Statement: The Society for Creative Anachronism (SCA) is an international non-profit volunteer educational organization. The SCA is devoted to the research and re-creation of pre-seventeenth century skills, arts, combat, culture, and employing knowledge of history to enrich the lives of participants through events, demonstrations, and other educational presentations and activities.

The College of Lyonsmarche is a local chapter of the Society for Creative Anachronism, Inc., located in Moscow, Idaho and Pullman, Washington (and the surrounding Palouse).   The SCA is a large international effort, with local branches throughout the United States, Canada, Europe, Australia, and New Zealand.

Much of our efforts are geared toward creating an organization with a medieval ‘feel’. In our efforts to do so, the many areas encompassed by the SCA are broken into “Kingdoms” with the occasional regional subdivision of a “Principality”; local branches known as Baronies, Shires, Colleges, Cantons and other designations based on population sizes. The College of Lyonsmarche is part of the administrative region called the “Inlands” within the Kingdom of An Tir.   The Kingdom of An Tir includes Oregon, Washington, the northern tip of Idaho, British Columbia, the Yukon, and the Northwest territories.

Detailed information concerning the SCA can be gathered from their official web site and the An Tir website.
